Halloween Safety Tips!

Halloween night can be great fun for all
but often animals don't understand the scary
goings on and the results can be just as frightening.

Consider the following tips to create
a safe environment for your dog or cat
and have a Spooky Fun Filled Night!

  • Break Out Your Costume Early
Let your dog see it, sniff it and know that it is you underneath! That can make all the difference for them on the big night.

  • Leave Your Dog At Home
Taking your dog along to trick or treat just might be too much, especially if your dog is already a bit on the shy side.
If your dog is social and really loves the activity of a night time walk be sure not to allow others to approach or scare your dog along the way. A dogs deserves the respect of being able to sniff or avoid a certain someone if their costume is just too scary.

  • Get A Great New Chew Toy
Then leave your dog in a back room or baby gated away from the front door and the trick or treaters.

  • Keep Your Cats Inside Halloween Night
Cats can often be the victim of pranks or be chased resulting in them getting lost or being too afraid to come out of hiding and head home.

  • Don't Share Your Treats
Everyone knows chocolate is toxic to dogs and cats. Be sure to store excess candy away from your pets and offer them a special chewy treat to have instead of yours.
Here are some other toxic foods to keep away from your pet:

    • Avocado
    • Grapes
    • Raisins
    • Onion
    • Xylitol - found in some newer gums like
      Orbit and Eclipse gum
