Laura, pictured here with Fletch, has been aspiring to
the field of animal rescue and rehabilitation from an early
age. In her middle school year book, her future goal was
to work with animal shelters. She then continued on to high
school and college, earning a degree in animal science from
UNH Thompson School, as well as a Bachelor's in Psychology.
She interned under Sue Carney throughout her college education
and is now teaching classes of her own. She also volunteers
with Canine Companions for Independence, helping to raise
and train future service dogs. While still learning many
new things along the way, she is bringing her many experiences
together and is very enthusiastically getting an early jumpstart
on her dream career. She is now teaching puppy obedience
classes and playgroups here at the NHSPCA.

Dee
Ganley
For over 25
years Dee has taught training classes and
advised individuals on how to create positive partnership
with their dogs. In the mid-1990s she began
sharing positive reinforcement training with the
deeply committed people working in the shelter
world. From 1998-2004, she was the Training and
Behaviour Manager for the Upper Valley Humane
Society in Enfield, NH. Dee's single most important
goal was to create a shelter and training program
that teaches the dogs self-control skills. She worked
with the staff, volunteers and the public, helping
them use positive reinforcement to change rude
dogs into agreeable family members.
Today, Dee
is back in private practice, which
now includes travelling to many wonderful places
helping shelters, rescues, and other folks who want to
learn her practical, humane techniques. She teaches people
to change their dogs and themselves into friends and partners
for life.
More information
on Dee is available on her website at www.deesdogs.com
