The Sable Fund
Sable, the Black Laborador Shot in Raymond NH
Stratham, NH –The New Hampshire SPCA (NHSPCA) announced today the creation of a fund that will enable the NHSPCA to offer a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of perpetrators of cruelty to animals. This comes in the wake of the tragic shooting of Sable, a black Labrador Retriever that was a beloved family member until an as yet unknown person shot her with a pellet gun. The wounds were so severe they later led to her death.
According to Sable’s family, they returned to their home in Raymond on Monday to find the dog missing. They discovered a trail of blood and followed it to find her. She was rushed to their veterinarian and then to an emergency hospital but her injuries proved too extensive and the eleven year old family pet had to be euthanized.
Raymond Police say that the shooter could face felony charges. The New Hampshire SPCA would like to assist the Raymond Police in finding and convicting the people responsible by offering a reward for information. “This is a terrible tragedy,” said Lisa Dennison, Executive Director of the New Hampshire SPCA. “We hope that by offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of this criminal, we can not only honor Sable’s life, but also let others who might perpetrate a crime like this know that they won’t get away with it. Our hearts go out to Sable’s family and hope that in some small way, we are able to help in their healing.”
If you have information about the shooting of Sable, please contact Raymond Police Department at 603-895-4747.
