19 Dogs Rescued In Cruelty Case

Stratham, NH - On Monday, June 18, 2007 the New Hampshire SPCA Field Services Division assisted the Epping Police Department in removing 19 dogs from a property in Epping, NH. The NHSPCA worked in cooperation with the Epping Police Department to evaluate and subsequently remove the dogs from the premises.

The dogs are being held in protective custody at the NHSPCA's Adoption Center in Stratham. All 19 dogs are Italian Greyhounds and each is significantly underweight and requiring medical attention. The dogs were found in crowded, waste filled crates in an attic. The internal temperature in the attic was in excess of 90 degrees. The owner of the animals turned herself into the Epping Police Department on June 27, 2007.

The NHSPCA is seeking financial support to rehabilitate the dogs and provide the necessary medical treatment. Donations may be made to the SOS Fund via the web site at nhspca.org, by phone at (603) 772-2921 or by mail to SOS Fund, PO Box 196, Stratham NH 03885. Donations of dog food are also welcome, preferably "little bites" by Pedigree or Science Diet.

The New Hampshire SPCA is a community resource center that provides animal adoption, education, investigation and sheltering services in a professional and compassionate way. The Adoption Center is open from 11 am - 4pm on Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 11 am - 7pm on Tuesday and Thursday, and closed on Wednesday. For more information about the NHSPCA, visit www.nhspca.org.
