Horse Adoption Information
Please check out our Equine
specific page on Facebook at “New Hampshire SPCA Equine Rescue Page” for
updates and more pictures of our available animals. All adoption fees are subject to change and
will vary depending on the age, ability, training and soundness of the horse.
They range from zero to $1,500 with an average of around $500.
Horses are fostered out into
community barns for a variety of reasons ranging from long term rehabilitation
to lack of space here at the NHSPCA. We are always looking for people to assist
in expanding our walls and resources. If you have some space in your barn and
heart to help a homeless horse, please contact us. You could be the stepping
stone to a whole new life for a horse in need. As horses become available for
adoption, they will be listed here and can be seen by appointment at their
Foster to Adopt Program
In an effort to ensure a good
match, we've developed our "Foster to Adopt" Program. This program
works much like an off-farm lease and affords an adopter thirty days (at their
expense) as a trial run. Not all horses will be eligible and we will accept
additional applications for horses in the "Foster to Adopt" Program. There
is a deposit required in the amount of $250. or Half of the Adoption Fee for
the animal in question, whichever is less.
In the event that a horse is not adopted into their foster home, the
deposit becomes a donation. Should the
foster become an adoption, the deposit is subtracted from the Adoption
Fee. If the horse is not adopted, we
will notify any interested parties on file.
We’ve seen lots of farm
animals from emus to llamas, pot bellied pigs to peacocks. Mostly, it’s horses, goats and farm fowl. If you don’t find what you’re looking for
today, make sure to check back often because you never know what will show up
next. We also have a wish list for
approved farm animal applicants. Come on
in and complete an application so we know what you’re in the market for. We’ll call you when we find a match.
