Shepherd Mix, Neutered Male, 6 months old, has been good with children of all ages, other dogs and the cats he has met here but might chase them for fun. Dalton is still just a puppy and would be a great candidate for basic odedience classes to show him the ropes and help him bond with his new owner.

Shadow

UPDATE: Shadow took a trip to Mount Major to get a much deserved day out of the kennel! He was perfectly behaved, met other dogs and people, and walked nicely on the leash. He has now been with us since June 2nd, and is trying to deal with the stress of kennel life the best he can. Shadow loves having a job to do whether it is training sessions (he is a smart boy and loves to learn!), a long walk, or playing fetch. He has shown that he is the perfect hiking companion. And after some exercise, is ready to snuggle and show what an affectionate boy he is. Shadow has quickly become a staff and volunteer favorite here. In the right home, he is best with kids teenage and up, in a home without cats, and may be okay with some dogs, he will open up and show he is ready to make that bond. Come meet Shadow and see if that can
be you.

Shadow is a neutered, 4 1/2 year old Lab/Cattle Dog mix. He is not recommended with children under teen age and is not good with cats or other dogs. Shadow is a handsome boy who is housetrained and would do best with a fenced yard as he has escaped in the past. Shadow is learning how to play nice, walk on a leash and may be more Lab than previously thought. He is very content to stick around if he gets plenty of exercise. He seems to really enjoy his training sessions!

Tara

Smooth Coated Collie Mix, Spayed Female, 5 years old, not recommended with children under the age of 12, has been good with some other dogs, but might chase cats. Tara is here because she was not good with small children. She is housetrained.

Gizmo

Terrier Mix, Neutered Male, 5 years old, not recommended with children, has been good with the other dogs and cats he has met here. Gizmo is here because the landlord would not allow pets.

Chef

Purebred Australian Shepherd, 1-2 years old. Chef is a handsome, loyal boy who has special needs and needs a special home. Chef is deaf and may have some visual impairments but he gets around great! He is super smart and has picked up on training quickly. True to his breed, he likes to work hard and needs to be occupied. He prefers to be the only animal in his home and would prefer a lifestyle that would offer lots of activity, patience and dedication.

What Do You Really Know About Greyhounds?

Retired greyhounds make wonderful companions! Most are non-barking, easy to housebreak and are already crate trained. Greyhounds are generally excellent on leash, walking quietly and easily next to their person. They tend to have wonderful manners and bond quickly with people and most other dogs. Greyhounds are also very tolerant and can often learn to be okay with cats and children. With consistency and clarity, training can be easy and you may find you have a new shadow! They are intelligent, lovable and loyal. While they may have had a past of racing at the track, they require little exercise and tend to be couch potatoes in the home merely wanting companionship.
