Scent Games: The Nose Knows

Speaker: Dee Ganley

Date & Time: Sunday, September 26, 2010

1:00 to 4:00 PM

Have you ever noticed that dogs live by their nose? A dog’s sense of smell is more powerful than we can possibly imagine. So let’s put that powerful nose to good use!

Today, people use dogs in a variety of roles due to their superior olfactory ability. Dogs have invaluable roles with search and rescue teams, in identifying contraband, and keeping tabs on endangered species to name just a few. Recently, dogs have even been trained to identify bladder cancer in humans. We will pair scents to a behavior and object, learn air scent games and the new box work and some outdoor tracking and trailing games too!
